Hourglass (Evernight, #3)
Blurb (from Goodreads):
Bianca will risk everything to be with Lucas.

After escaping from Evernight Academy, the vampire boarding school where they met, Bianca and Lucas take refuge with Black Cross, a fanatical group of vampire hunters. Bianca must hide her supernatural heritage or risk certain death at its hands. But when Black Cross captures her friend—the vampire Balthazar—hiding is no longer an option. Soon Bianca and Lucas are on the run again, pursued not only by Black Cross, but by the powerful leaders of Evernight. Yet no matter how far they travel, Bianca can't escape her destiny. Bianca has always believed their love could survive anything... but can it survive what's to come?

Hourglass (Evernight, #3)(Source: I own a copy of this book.)
This is book 3 in the ‘Evernight’ series, and kicks off a couple of days after book 2 ‘Stargazer’ left off.
**Warning – some unavoidable spoilers for books 1 and 2 ‘Evernight’ and ‘Stargazer’.**
Bianca and Lucas are now living with Black Cross following the fire that destroyed Evernight Academy. Living as a baby vampire within a group of vampire hunters isn’t easy though, and Bianca’s health is suffering. Lucas and Bianca know that they have to somehow get away and make it on their own, but it isn’t going to be easy.
Can Lucas and Bianca get away from Black Cross? When will their secret be discovered? And what is Bianca going to do for blood in the meantime?

This was a fab third book, way better than the first two, and full of surprises.

Once again Bianca had manned up a bit in this book. She was doing what she needed to do, and trying her best not to complain about it. I have to say that I was really concerned about what the hell she thought she was going to do; trying to survive as a baby vampire whilst living with vampire hunters, but somehow she made it work! I was a little sceptical that she could go for 4-5 days without any blood at all, and then survive only on 1 robin, but whatever, I’ll let her off on that one.

Lucas was a prominent figure in this one, but what the hell he thought he was doing trying to hide a vampire inside a vampire hunters den was a little beyond me. I know he meant well, but talk about out of the frying pan and into the fire!

Once again we got some great twists and turns in this book. The first two in the series were okay, and the twists helped, and once again the twists in this one were pretty major and game changing. I really didn’t see them coming, and wow! I was actually surprised at how much I liked this book compared to the other two! The tension and mystery was much much better in this one, and I had to keep reading to find out what would happen next for Bianca and Lucas.
The ending of this one was also pretty good, although we did get another pretty sizable cliff-hanger. I hadn’t intended on reading the rest of this series, as I haven’t bought books 4 and 5 yet, but after this instalment I’m seriously considering getting the next two books in this series to find out what happens next!
Overall; a much improved third instalment, with some really tasty twists.
7.5 out of 10.
