RED by Asil - free download

Blurb:
Hyde is a desperate man. His daughter has been taken hostage by a demon known as Keeler. He’ll do anything to get her back.
This alpha male doesn’t take orders well and being forced into kidnapping Tirana Connors in exchange for his daughter doesn’t set right with him. In his attempt to buy time to come up with a plan, he is unprepared for the sexy, smart, tantalizing Tirana and the tension between this evolves from extreme dislike to unadulterated lust.

This is a short story about a girl called Tirana, who one night hears screams in her back garden so goes to investigate (stupid girl).

In her garden she finds a large man called Hyde, who is a member of a gang called ‘The Reds’, and has been stabbed multiple times in the chest.
Even though Hyde is injured, he tells Tirana that he is kidnapping her, so she helps him into her house, dresses his wounds, and then allows him to tie her up using his belt, while he has a nap (I’m not joking).

Waking him up to remind him that they have left her back door open (still not joking), Tirana sees an opportunity to escape, but instead secures the door, and arms herself with a knife. Hyde then spots the knife and tells her to put it down so that she can help him to her bedroom for a lie down, so she obliges.

Hyde sleeps for 36 hours, during which Tirana eats some left over takeaway and watches TV. When Hyde wakes up, he ties her up again, and actually gets down to the business of kidnapping her properly, though this doesn’t last very long because it turns out that Tirana isn’t 100% human.

You can probably tell that I didn’t think much to this book. The storyline was flawed, the main characters were a little stupid, and there were problems with the English, the grammar, and problems with switching between past, present, and future tense.
I think that this was probably designed to be an erotica/romance novel, which explains why Tirana started thinking about having sex with her ‘kidnapper’, but the same problems with the writing intruded on the erotic interlude as well.

There was a bit more to the storyline at the end, but this was then spoiled by the fact that the book then ended on a bit of a cliff-hanger. Suffice to say, I don’t want to read the sequel!
Overall; not a fan, even for free.
4 out of 10.

  2. The description sounded good...then I read your review. The things you pointed out that you didn't like are things that would irk me, so even though it's free I will have to pass
