Syrenka Blog Tour - Arise by Amber Garr

Arise (The Syrenka Series, #3)
Blurb (from Goodreads):
With power comes the responsibility to accept its consequences.

After the betrayal of those closest to her, Eviana Dumahl struggles to cope with her new reality. Kidnapped, broken, and confused, she is forced to engage in a war that will alter merfolk politics forever. With her estranged father leading the charge, Eviana has no choice but to stand by his side. Her continued existence hinges on the acceptance of the power growing inside her, even when that means embracing the family’s dark lineage.

Kain Matthew will sacrifice the world for Eviana. And he is not alone. As time runs out, her friends fight to save her life and theirs. An unlikely alliance gives them the edge they need to take a stand, although it keeps Eviana’s heart trapped in the past. A new discovery explains some of her previous mistakes, but it may not be enough to stop her father’s plans. Merfolk, selkies, and water sprites work together to save their kind, only in this final battle, not everyone will survive.

In the striking series conclusion, Eviana will learn the true meaning of power, sacrifice, and love.

Arise (The Syrenka Series, #3)(I received a digital copy of this book for free as part of the ‘Syrenka’ blog tour. Thanks to Amber Garr and Bookshelf confessions)
This is book 3 in the Syrenka series, and kicks off where ‘Betrayal’ left off.

Eviana has been kidnapped by Lucian – the man who has been ruining things for the Syrenka, selkies, and water sprites alike, and the man who now claims to be Eviana’s biological father.
Drugged and confused, Eviana is stuck, locked in her Lucian’s boathouse, and unable to even plan an escape.
How can Eviana escape, and save the rest of her clan? Does anyone stand a chance against Lucian and his special powers? Who will win Eviana’s heart?

I really enjoyed this book. This series just keeps getting better, and this was probably the best of the three and a great end to the series!
Poor Eviana has had a lot to cope with in this series, and has had to do a lot of growing up along the way. Things seem bad at the beginning of this instalment, and defeating Lucian is not going to be an easy feat.
Once again Kain is a total sweetheart in his book, and it’s so lovely to see that his feelings for Eviana are still holding strong even after all they’ve been through. I am totally on team Kain over here, I wanted Eviana to marry Kain right at the beginning, and I couldn’t wait to read this instalment to find out who she would end up with, especially with her original boyfriend Brendon back in the picture, and the sexy English Graham vying for her attention too!

There is plenty of action in this book, with the final showdown to look forward to, and twists and turns along the way. There’s also plenty of intrigue as to who Eviana can trust, and nothing is truly settled until right at the very end.

Overall; great end to the series, and great trilogy! If you’re interested in mermaid stories, check this one out!
8 out of 10.

  3. My co-blogger Rachel reviewed this series, and it looks vaguely interesting from the outside, but I don't think I'd actually enjoy it. Too much romanciness and paranormal for me.
